this is where i'll put all the stupid things i write while at work, or while i should (frankly) be doing more important things. some of these things have already been written-- some haven't been written yet, and some of them may never be. i'm just taking down ideas for things i've always wanted to write or make videos or just talk about, but i'm a little too scared to put myself out there. i think this is 'out there' enough for me.
general essays
these are usually just about things i grew up with (like shows or music or books) and things i'm trying to process now as an adult (like trauma, uh oh). i only want to share what i think will be useful for others, so i will try to keep from being too actually trauma-dumpy for no reason. there are just some things the internet doesn't need to know, after all
- battle on: (11/11/24) a retrospective of my feelings on the 2011 series terrain of magical expertise, loss of nostalgia, and its direct effects on my journey as an artist.
- fanservice shonen, hideo azuma, and the modern anime fan: (11/28/24 - TBA) a brief (haha) exploration of 'deceptive' shonen and its intersection with the aesthetics of western girl's media of the mid-late 2000s and early 2010s, hideo azuma and cybele's effect on modern comiket and modern moe as a whole, and the very tangible connection between lolicon and the right wing.
- maybe i do like cartoons and toys for children: (TBA) for years, i have made jokes on priding myself for being one of the few painfully online people i know who actively goes out of their way to watch and interact with as much art made by and for adults as possible. i've found that, in these past few years especially, this may be a lie.
